Bus ads drive in revenue

Over 100 Jeffco buses have been transformed into rolling revenue makers with logos from First Bank of Colorado and other local community businesses. High fuel costs, inflation and increasing food prices have hit communities around the nation and Jeffco Public Schools is no different in feeling the pinch of budget reductions in a slowing economy.

"We're trying to find ways to raise a little cash to support our kids," said district spokeswoman Lynn Setzer. One of those ways is by selling advertising on school buses. Teaming up with First Bank was an inventive idea to create a new revenue source for Jeffco schools and students.

This community partnership will bring in over half a million dollars over the next four years. The Colorado company will also display their logo in the North Area Athletic Complex, Trailblazer and Jeffco stadiums and in each high school gym, on the district Web page at www.jeffcopublicschools.org and company announcements will be made during most varsity sporting events.
