Have you begun participating in the Grocery Card Program yet? If not, you are letting free money for the school pass us by every time you shop for groceries!
There is an easy, no extra cost to you, way to support our school on a regular basis – grocery cards! Compass participates in an on-going program with King Soopers, Safeway and Sunflower Market to raise money for the school without costing our families any extra money on their groceries.
Drop off your order form to either campus office by Monday morning and you will receive your grocery card(s) by the end of the week. For example, if you purchase a $100 card to Kings, Safeway or Sunflower, you will be able to redeem the card for the full $100, but Compass will receive a rebate of between 3% - 5% back from the store. (The Kings and Safeway cards can also be used at their in-store pharmacies or to purchase gas.) Easy and win-win!
We can accept cash, check or credit cards for payment. If you can write a check or use cash, it saves Compass the additional credit card processing fee.
Weekly order forms are available at both campus offices and on our website. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Tracy McIlrath at 303-233-4976. Thanks for your support!
Compass Volunteer wish list is available online. There are lots of opportunities available at both Wheat Ridge and Golden. Please take a look at the following site: http://compassmontessori.blogspot.com/

( Right after the Silent Auction )
Welcome to our 11th year of Summer Camp!
What’s New This Summer? Click here for details.
I am so excited to invite you to come listen to Pat Schaeffer for our parent information night on Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 at the Wheat Ridge Campus.
The topic is Literacy as it Applies to the Four Planes of Development.
Pat Schaeffer is a nationally recognized Montessori consultant and educator. She has taught Montessori education for over 30 years and was the founder of Lake County Montessori School in Minneapolis, MN.
Pat is our Literacy Consultant and has been helping us with our year long literacy project where we are working to create a cohesive pre-k through 12th grade Montessori approach to literacy. She will be here that Wednesday, Thursday and Friday working with staff as we continue to evolve literacy education at Compass.
This parent information night will be a wonderful opportunity for you to better understand the Montessori method whether your student is in Children's House, Elementary, Farm School or High School. Many of our parents chose Compass because of its great reputation but still are a little confused regarding why we do things the way we do. Pat will provide to you a deeper understanding of Montessori education, the four planes of development, and the Montessori approach to literacy. She will also create time to answer questions.
Pat has been a featured speaker at many national Montessori conferences throughout the years. I had the opportunity to see her speak at the NAMTA Adolescent Conference in Chicago a few years ago and learned so much. We are truly fortunate that she is presenting to our community. Please mark this date on your calendars and I hope to see you on Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 at the Wheat Ridge campus!

The name for this years’ Spring fundraising event is the First Annual Compass Showcase and Silent Auction. This years’ free event will be held at the Golden Campus, starting the night with the silent auction and hors d’oeuvres. Entertainment will be provided by Compass community members while the silent auction is going on.
After the close of the silent auction, everyone will move down to the auditorium for dessert and the First Annual Compass Showcase ( similar to American Idol but more family member participants ) we will have judges but it will not be a competition, just a chance for us to appreciate the talent in our ever expanding community. This will last for about an hour while the silent auction items are tallied.
Come one come all, we encourage family acts. Music, magic, comedy or what-ever you do to entertain. All acts will be reviewed prior to the showcase. After the showcase you can go and retrieve your auction items and check out.
The goal is to have people spend their money at the silent auction rather than on the dinner. It is imperative to have the entire Compass Community to help in getting donated auction items so please start getting them now. Friends, relatives, co-workers, please ask them all. We will have scheduled drop offs for auction items at Golden and Wheat Ridge as the event grows nearer.
The first organization meeting is Jan. 11, Monday afternoon, Wheat Ridge – 3 pm in the lunchroom, Golden - 3:45 pm in the commons area. This meeting will be short and will be informative for everyone wanting to volunteer for the event. If you can’t make the Monday meetings please email me about what position you would like to fill. georgepanagos@hotmail.com
