Hello Compass Families!
Please join us on Tueday November 17th at 5:45 as we gather for a Thanksgiving celebration with other Compass families, for a community building event honoring cultural diversity!
We are excited to offer a Middle Eastern buffet menu catered by a local community favorite restaraunt Ali Babba's.
The buffet will include vegetarian and meat dishes from Syria and Lebanon. Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children under 12. Tickets may be purchased at either Compass office until November 13th!
This is not a fundraising event and we do not have a town hall meeting!
Since the last edition 2 great Bingo volunteers have stepped up to Key Bingo Positions - Jenn Kush is being trained & licensed as a Bingo Games Manager and Art Moore has completed his training as a Bingo Caller. Please join me in thanking both of them for taking this big step.
Also, THE MUST-GO Progressive Jackpot Bingo Session scheduled for 11/22 has been changed to a Regular Sunday Session. One of our loyal players won the jackpot at our regular session on Sunday, 11/01. If you are planning to help Ms Laura's class on 11/22, please sign-up online & plan on being at Slammers by 2 PM. Our next Progressive Bingo event will be on 12/27/09.
ABOUT THE COMPASS DIRECTORY:
Carla Rail has been the sole driving force behind the directory for the past 7 years! (Maybe even longer!) We need 1 or 2 organized individuals with some basic spread sheet experience to take over for her for the 2010/2011 Directory. If you are interested in working on this important document, please contact Carla Rail - her email is crailis@comcast.net.
Join us for a day of fun and celebration! Winterfest is our annual arts and crafts fair and fundraiser, sponsored by PTSA. Students will have an opportunity to make or purchase handmade, personal items to give as gifts and also contribute to our school community. This event along with our holiday Scholastic Book Fair will be held at Wheat Ridge on Saturday, December 5th from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. This year we are raising funds to purchase a commercial refrigerator to support the new hot lunch program at Wheat Ridge. If you have a craft to share or a tasty treat to bake, we are currently taking reservations for booths and looking for donations for our bake sale. You can reserve a booth, sign up to bring a bake sale item or volunteer for the event on Volunteer Up. Booths are limited and get reserved quickly so sign up early. PTSA can reimburse you for your costs but please consider making a donation to our 'fridge fundraiser - every little bit helps!

Once again we will be celebrating the holiday season with a Lunchtime Thanksgiving Feast on Tuesday, November 24th at the Golden Campus. We invite any Compass Golden student or staff member who would like to participate to please join us for this traditional Thanksgiving meal. The purpose of this feast is to celebrate and give thanks for the abundance we feel as a community regardless of our individual circumstances. For the students and staff already participating in the lunch program, the Thanksgiving meal is included in their fees already paid. If you are not participating in the lunch program, the cost of tthe feast is $3.00 for the Children's House. If you want to participate, please contact Cheryl in the office in order to sign up and pay by Monday, November 16th!
The Compass Montessori School Accountability Committee will have a working meeting Monday evening, November 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Golden Campus. The purpose of the meeting is to begin preparation of next spring's community survey. Anyone may come; we'd especially appreciate advice and help from anyone who has had experience with conducting surveys or with other methods of assessing organizational needs. The community survey is used in evaluating the performance of the school's administration, and in setting the school's long-term goals.
If you have questions, please contact David Hurlbut by phone at 303-704-5014, or by email at david@cypressrose.com.
